In PSHE, we had the learning objective: 'To consider future jobs and careers'. The children firstly completed a quiz which told them what jobs they may like based on their answers to various questions. We then compared these jobs to what we actually would like to do in the future and discussed what skills we thought we would need. Everybody then had 5 minutes of research time before we began our interviews. The children had a checklist of what makes a good interviewee, including good eye contact, manners and answering questions in detail. We then paired up and had our interviews. Moon class took these interviews very seriously, and most children got the job :)
During our Science topic, all about life cycles and living things, we have raised 5 caterpillars and watched them turn into butterflies. They have helped us to experience a whole life cycle in our classroom. We released them onto the field and they didn't want to leave us! They landed on lots of our hands (and heads!) before flying off.
Recently, we have had a focus of Oracy in our classroom. We decided to combine this with Commando Joe and challenged ourselves to give clear and concise instructions to successfully complete an obstacle course - blindfolded! The children had to make sure they used their oracy skills to direct their partner around the course, safely and in the correct order. The children had to dribble a football, jump hurdles, throw a ball into a hoop, walk along the benches, army crawl and finally complete the hoops. All of the children were able to communicate effectively and help their friends around the course. We had a great time seeing how fast we could make our way to the end and lots of laughs in the process. Myself, Miss Jackson and Miss Jones are really proud of how everybody communicated with one another and worked as part of a team :)
